Keep Calm & Waffle On

The Training Log of a Breakfast Menu Item

Week 3 Roundup

Off to meet poll workers and citizens at City Hall!

It was a busy week for Mr. Waffles, with a lot of daily training, meeting new people, and working on some basic skills. He had house guests for the first time, which was an absolute joy!

Hello? I was told there was kibble in this box.

He’s learning to sleep through the night, loves his crate, naps like a champ, and is full of chaos and sharp little teeth. This week, he’s all legs and lacks coordination in that hilarious puppy sort of way. He enjoys stalking his toys and pouncing on them, and is learning that his big brother’s tail is NOT something he should chomp on for fun. He has discovered puzzles and is learning to use his paws and nose to open flaps, push and pull sliding parts around, and sniff up a storm to find hidden treats. These are all pieces of skills he’ll be taught as he gets older!

Dignity.

Waffles has met a few dozen people this week, and particularly enjoyed pettings from a road construction crew. He checked out heavy machinery and didn’t seem to mind the noise! He also discovered the joy of mountains of fall leaves, and bunnies hiding in the brush pile. Critter-proofing will come later. For now, he gets to explore!

Auntie Peggy holds, I tug.

This coming week is full of visits and socialization, and hopefully a playdate with a puppy pal. The week after, he starts Puppy Kindergarten! He’s coming in with some pretty good baby puppy skills. Phew!

Mind if I eat these bricks?

We’ll post our training plans tomorrow!

Many thanks to uncle Kevin and Auntie Peggy and Auntie Jodi for pictures this week.

I look innocent, and innocence is full of teeth…
